Homemade Sweet Lite Strawberry Jam

Many ppl never bother to make their own jam, maybe because of higher cost and the lifespan of the homemade jam is shorter than the ones we bought from the market. For me, this time I decided to make my own strawberry jam, because I only need it in small quantity, so the lifespan is not important, as I’ll finish the jam in no time.

Firstly, I only use 3 ripe strawberry for the jam making. Choose those which is the ripest, or going to turn bad if not consumed in a day or two.

Cut the strawberries to small pieces.

Mash the strawberries with a fork.

You will also need some sugar. I use rock sugar, because it doesn’t dissolve too quickly and won’t burn easily like normal fine sugar.

Another key ingredient, I use 1 tablespoon of Balsamic Vinegar for the jam making, it’ll bring out the flavour of the strawberry, very distinct taste.

So firstly, use a non-stick pan the best. Turn on slow fire. Add the mashed strawberry and rock sugar and keep stirring until the sugar is fully melted.

Add in Balsamic Vinegar half way and continue stirring until the liquid gets thicker and thicker.

You’ll see some foaming when the jam is boiling , its okay, keep stirring until the jam is consistent in texture, if its too watery, you may add a dash of corn flour or whatever flour you can find, coz you wont be able to taste it at all.

Voila, the Strawberry Jam is ready! Let it cool aside and its ready to be serve.

You may keep this jam up to a week in the fridge but not more than that.
